6 Movies That Make You Want To Go Clubbing

They say certain movies can be a really bad influence on people that makes them do horrible things like bash random people or shoot up a school. The debate about whether movies should be held responsible for real life violence is up for debate, but I believe there is some truth to the argument. Why? Because whenever I’ve seen a movie with a reallygood clubbing scene, it’s actually made me feel really pumped up and wants me to leave the cinema for the other big dark room that is a nightclub.

It’s a combination of the pumping dance music, the cool flashing lights, all the hotties around, and how hard everyone seems to be partying. It reminds you of why you like clubbing in the first place. Whether the fact the whole movie’s about clubbing or it’s just one scene where the characters go out for a night on the town, the fact a movie of all things makes you want to party just goes to show the power of music and editing!

1. Go (1999)
Clubbing, partying, drugs, hooking up; this whole movie sums up clubbing! For anyone who likes clubbing and loves late ’90s dance music from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Len, and Massive Attack, Go is freakin’ awesome!

2. A Night At The Roxbury (1998)
Another late ’90s movie about clubbing, albeit a much daggier one. Following two hopeless idiots trying to chat up chicks with lame pick up lines, playing dance music full blast from their car and nodding their head the beat, working a crappy job just so they got cash to party on the weekend, this is basically the life of many clubbers on celluloid. Though the clothes these people wore in the film would probably get you barred from the club these days, the soundtrack is still catchy and danceable after all these years, making one want to party.

3. The Social Network (2010)
We often see photos our Facebook “friends” are tagged in when they’ve gone clubbing and get kind of jealous they went out and had a grouse time while we were stalking them (and others) on Facebook. But it’s a whole other thing when a movie about the social networking site makes you want to go clubbing! There’s a scene where Napster creator Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) and Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) are at a nightclub talk about their plans on taking on the world and become billionaires. Perhaps because of the intensity of the conversation, as well as the pumping music and the hot girls around, just make this look awesome.

4. Vanilla Sky (2001)
Though it’s actually a pretty depressing scene with Tom Cruise’s friends not being able to deal with his now deformed face and weird mask, the music and how everyone has their hands in the air is just awesome. ‘Afrika Shox’ by Leftfield is fucking sick; what an awesome track. How Cruise got into the club with that mask remains a mystery. (On the video below, it’s a mix of Vanilla Sky and Open Your Eyes, the Spanish film Vanilla Sky‘s a remake of. Both are great films!)

5. Wayne’s World (1992)
Never mind the infamous ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ rendition, the early ’90s rock music in this is mad! Made in the era where bands like Soundgarden, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pearl Jam ruled supreme, it’s a long, long time ago from today’s mostly RnB and Dance influenced world of music. The following scene just makes you want to go headbanging at some heavy metal joint to get fucked up listening to a hard rockin’ band (Sorry the video’s in German, it’s the best one I could find of this scene).

6. Black Swan (2010)
This scene perfectly captures what it’s like to be fucked up under the influence of booze or drugs on a crazy dance floor. With the flashing lights are just going crazy, pumping song, and hotties like Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis fooling around, what’s not to like? Well, there is the drug use, but that’s a topic for another article.
